TEMO, the French manufacturer of electric outboards, has unveiled a new model

Following the success of the Temo 450, the brand's first portable electric motor, the French maker of electric outboards has announced a new model, the Temo 1000. The product, which is intended for small and medium-sized yachts and sailboats over 8 meters, is expected to be released in February 2023 and pre-orders are already underway.

The engine is light, quiet, powerful and benefits from an interchangeable battery system. Its electric power is 1000W, its propeller power is 500W, and its static thrust is 28kg(equivalent to 3HP). Compared to the Temo 450, the manufacturer has completely changed the look of the product. The Temo 450 resembles the Motogodilla, while the Temo 1000 resembles a thicker rudder with a simple base at the bottom. The total weight of the aluminium profile and overall design is 13kg, including 5kg of battery.

TEMO, the French manufacturer of electric outboards, has unveiled a new modelSource for specific design. This enables a compact and optimized design, unlike other manufacturers who prefer to design for multiple power supplies."

● Simple electrical system and reasonable range

The motor battery system is integrated in the vertical profile. It automatically connects to the plug-in via the IP67 waterproof connector. The capacity is 20Ah and the battery is interchangeable. 220V charging time is 5 hours, 12V charging time is 12 hours. Full power autonomous time is 45 minutes.

● Use fixed skills on the boat

The engine incorporates a tiller that retractable in the fuselage. When the tiller is retracted, the motor can only be used as a propulsion system, saving space on the ship, while when stretched, the motor can be used as a rudder to control the ship's direction.

Depending on the boat type, the Temo 1000 also stays on the shaft and is mounted on a plate fixed to the deck with screws, which may be suitable for small sailboats with open cockpits. On small yachts, on the other hand, the motor is attached via a simple clip to a 360° free shaft, which itself is attached to the stern plate.

To get rid of the choice of long or short shafts, the Temo1000 is equipped with a vertical guide that adjusts the propeller to the height of the hull. How this will really affect the comfort of the helmsman remains to be seen.

The published price is €2,850 (tax included), with the first 100 pre-orders costing €2,300 (tax included).
