Seven common ways of machining

The form of machining varies according to the requirements of different materials and products. The traditional machining methods we often hear are turning, tongs, washing, planing, grinding and so on. With the development of mechanical science and technology, in mechanical processing, there are electroplating, wire cutting, casting, forging and powder processing and so on.

Today, we have combed the current 7 common machining methods:

01 turning

Turning is mainly due to the rotation of the workpiece, through the turning tool to cut the workpiece into the required shape.

When the tool moves along the parallel axis of rotation, inner and outer cylinders can be obtained.

The formation of the cone is that the cutter moves along an oblique line intersecting the axis.

The surface of rotation is formed by controlling the feed of the tool along a curve on a copying lathe or CNC lathe.

Another kind of rotation surface production, is the use of forming turning tool, transverse feed.

In addition to processing thread surface, end plane and eccentric shaft can also be turned.

02 milling

Milling mainly depends on the rotation of the cutter.

Milling is divided into horizontal milling and vertical milling. The plane of horizontal milling is formed by the edge of the outer surface of the milling cutter.

End milling is formed by the end edge of the milling cutter.

To achieve higher cutting speed and increase productivity, you can increase the speed of the milling cutter.

However, due to the cutting and cutting of milling cutter teeth, the impact is formed, and the cutting process is easy to produce vibration, which limits the improvement of surface quality.

03 planing

Planing is mainly the tool to do reciprocating linear motion of the workpiece cutting.

As a result, the speed of planing is relatively low and hence the productivity is low.

However, the accuracy and surface roughness of planing are more stable than that of milling.

04 grinding

Grinding mainly depends on grinding wheel and tools to process the workpiece, depends on the rotation of grinding wheel.

When grinding wheel is grinding, the abrasive particles on the grinding wheel are mainly used to cut, cut and slip the workpiece surface.

The abrasive itself is gradually blunted by the sharp, so that the cutting effect becomes worse and the cutting force becomes larger.

Therefore, after grinding for a certain time, diamond turning tools are needed to dress the grinding wheel.

05 Tooth surface processing

Tooth surface processing is a new processing way, which is divided into two categories: one is forming method, the other is developing method.

The forming method mainly uses ordinary milling machine for processing, the cutter for forming milling cutter, the need for the rotary motion and linear movement of the tool these two simple forming motion.

The developing method of tooth surface processing commonly used machine tools for hobbing machine, gear shaper, etc.

06 Complex surface machining

For the processing of complex surfaces, NUMERICAL control machine tools come in handy.

The machining of 3d curved surface mainly adopts the methods of copying milling, NUMERICAL control milling or special machining.

Copying milling must have a prototype as a die.

Seven common ways of machining

During the machining, the ball head copying head has been contacting the prototype surface with a certain pressure.

The movement of the profile head is transformed into inductance, and the movement of the milling machine's three axes is controlled by processing and amplification to form the trajectory of the tool head moving along the curved surface.

The milling cutter adopts the ball head milling cutter with the radius of the copying head.

The emergence of numerical control technology provides a more effective method for surface machining.

07 Special processing

Special processing is different from the traditional machining machining, special processing can use physical (electricity, sound, light, heat, magnetic), chemical or electrochemical methods of processing of the workpiece material, so that the workpiece into the shape we need.

In the selection of machining methods, we must consider in many ways, choose the right method, so as to make the production of both accuracy and quality, are guaranteed.

With the continuous development of science and technology, the form of machining is also increasing, in addition to several common ways introduced in the article, there are many ways of processing.
